THA Architects Engineers is a full-service architectural and engineering firm, serving both public and private sectors. We specialize in architecture, planning, interior design, mechanical engineering, and construction administration services within the educational, municipal, religious and commercial sectors.
Throughout the years, despite our growing volume and diversity of work, THA has never lost sight of whom we are designing for, the mission at hand, and the team process that creates the vision. Since our inception, we have produced over 50 award‐winning designs and have provided services on more than 12,000 projects for over 5,000 clients.
THA Architects Engineers is an employee-owned Michigan corporation run by its Board of Directors, who are elected annually by the firm’s stockholders.

History
THA Architects Engineers first began operation in 1957. Upon graduating from the University of California-Berkeley, Jim Tomblinson, returned to Flint, Michigan, to begin a practice with fellow architect Cliff Gibbs. Attracted by the innovative quality of work emanating from what would become known as THA, Jerry Harburn joined the firm in 1961. Harburn, having already distinguished himself at the University of Michigan by achieving the highest academic average among architectural graduates, had just completed his architectural internship with renowned architect Eero Saarinen.
Through commitment to providing quality service and design excellence, Tomblinson Harburn Associates received multiple design awards and developed a solid, loyal client base to which THA continues to serve with excellence.
Incorporated in 1968, the firm has consistently promoted a built environment of the highest quality. We remain committed to and a leader in the conservation of our resources, sustainable design, and proper design of our built environment. To these ends, the firm expanded its architectural services to include mechanical and electrical engineering in 1985.
The firm changed its name to THA Architects Engineers in 1994, reflecting the gradual transfer of ownership to associates dedicated to the same principles upon which the company was originally founded.
