Flint-based THA Architects Engineers was commissioned in April 2016 to create renderings for what a new middle school/high school building would look like if built on the campus of the former long-time Flint Central High on Crapo Street.

“When you build a new building there’s going to be a buzz and an excitement,” said Woodson, of the idea that still needs funding sources and approval of the board to come to fruition. “We hope that cascades throughout the district and (brings in) more students.”

A committee that consisted of 10 Flint Community Schools’ leaders — three board members, superintendent, deputy superintendent, two high school principals, facility/safety director, athletic director, and one administrator – all sat in on seven design meetings along with Jeff and Madonna Bennett of THA.
